Xenophobia at the Castle? How a renowned German boarding school became the target of public outrage
NZZ / 06/24
Some pupils at the Louisenlund boarding school chanted “Foreigners out!” at a party, just like the people from the infamous “Sylt video”. One of the teachers present reacted directly: „Music off, lights off, everyone goes to bed!“. But it was not the end of the story. First came the media storm, now state security is investigating.
We visited for NZZ one of the most renowned boarding schools in Germany, where the regular school fees are of around 50,000 euros per year. We wanted to have a look to what extent the clichés of the snobbish boarding school are true and how the school ist dealing with the difficult situation and the unwanted fame.
